BIOTECHNOLOGIES: TOP EXPERTS IN TRIESTE "SCIENCE & THE CITY" ON GMO. RECTOR PROF. PIERDOMENICO PERATA SPEECH ON 13th APRIL

Top Italian and international experts discuss on biotechnology research and biomedical issues, on April 13th  third edition of "Science & the City" to be held in Trieste. Rector’s speech of Sant'Anna School, Pierdomenico Perata, full professor of plant physiology,  is scheduled on Wednesday, April 13th. The aim of the event, sponsored by the International Centre for genetic engineering and biotechnology is to tell about Science to non-specialists audience. Speakers will be happy to give the audience an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the event.

GM foods are a topic of intense debate, the conference aims at providing an overview of the world events. Corn, cotton, genetically modified soybeans are a planetary reality but are also a source of debate, sometimes misinformed, in Europe and especially in Italy. Discussants include Pierdomenico Perata, Michele Morgante, Professor of Genetics at the University of Udine, and Wendy Craig, group leader for the activities of the International Centre for biosafety genetic engineering and biotechnology, who coordinates the training programs for legislators in African countries in relation to the use of agricultural biotechnologies.
